Softly Spring, Herringbone Fringe
This year so far has been all about herringbone stitch! It’s been a crazy kind of year, and my hands are drawn towards dependable, strong stitches that are easy for me and meditative. These gorgeous earrings were made by starting with eleven rows of herringbone stitch, onto which the long strands of fringe were built. The colors were inspired by early spring in Seattle, with an almost pink or mauve French beige as the main color, dusky raisin, two blues, and cream colors throughout. I added an aquamarine gemstone embellishment to weight the fringe. I usually work a design like this in 4lb Fireline or size D beading thread.
