My Inspiration

I’ve created this page with thanks and gratitude to the artists and designers who have inspired my work and journey. I’ve included links to a few of their projects so they can inspire you, too!

Tracy Proctor from TierraCast

I have been an admirer of Tracy’s work for TierraCast ever since I discovered the TierraCast blog and website! I was so excited when they added their Inspiration page! You can also search their website by component for design suggestions.

One of my favorites of Tracy’s designs are these Mod Brickstitch Pearl Earrings. This design has captured my imagination! I’ve made many in gorgeous colors and with many beads.

Cynthia Kimura, Cheri Carlson, and Becky Dahl for Artbeads.com

I am endlessly inspired by numerous tutorials from Artbeads.com and their Artbeads Café videos. Cynthia, Cheri, and Becky have published hundreds of designs. They also curate wonderful bead mixes! In the years I have followed them, I have developed into a seed bead artist! My first bead stitches were learned watching Artbeads tutorials. Here are just a few of my favorite Artbeads projects and the pieces they’ve inspired.

Terra Cotta Dawn pattern I have made many of these! My first idea was to create bee bands, because the stitch resembles honeycomb. It’s so fun to make, and I love superduos. I think I have made one in every color!

Island Life Necklace I had fallen head over heels for the gorgeous collection of Grace Lampwork beads Artbeads carries! I was having trouble with ideas for stringing them, so I asked for help during one of Cynthia’s home studio Facebook live broadcasts. Cynthia dedicated the next week’s show to sharing some projects ideas showing some tips for working with these beautiful beads! Cynthia’s Island Life Necklace and Bracelet was one of the projects she shared and is among my top favorites.

My favorite Artbeads Café, Bead Embroidery with Cynthia and Cheri This episode of Artbeads Café, and the projects they shared during the video, inspired me to try bead embroidery. I recommend giving it a try and hope you will really love it, too!

A highlight! When I was guest teaching for TierraCast in Tucson, I got to meet Cynthia!

Kellie of Kellie’s Bead Boutique

Kellie’s Bead Boutique is an incredible find and resource! If you have not already discovered Kellie’s amazing YouTube channel, you’re in for such a treat! Kellie publishes many great videos of projects that will teach you new techniques and you can purchase kits to compliment many of these videos.

One of my favorite of Kellie’s designs is this necklace, called the Easy Peasy Necklace. It captivated me because of it’s possibility to adapt endlessly for any design. It’s a stash design, meaning you can use what you have and following this tutorial pull together an amazing piece in a snap. In my necklace shown here, I used the beads from Kellie’s necklace kit and combined them with a stone pendant I had and it was perfect! I added a red agate disc bead.
